Founder Insights
A message from the Founder
My wife Sheila and I started Chimney Clean Company in San Jose, CA, in 1990. I was a Mechanical Engineer working for a large high-tech company at the time. We decided there was a tremendous demand for chimney and other home services in our area, started our own company, and never looked back!
As a licensed state masonry contractor, I value ethical, quality work above all else. We are members of the Golden State Chimney Sweep Guild. Not only have I undergone hundreds of hours of training under the top Chimney Sweeps and Technicians in the country, but I also ensure each of our technicians undergo a rigorous apprenticeship program as part of their on-the-job training.
I partnered with Dan Maas in 2018 as part of an overall plan to service more customers in our valley. Dan Maas comes from a life-long background of installing high-end wood floors to perfection and he has adapted to the Chimney Sweep and Dryer Duct world with great aplomb. His wife Jennifer Maas has been a business manager for the better part of 30 years and she handles the marketing, scheduling, and administration for the office.
We train our employees with our own intensive in-house training program. Current technicians, Nathan & Luis, have been trained to deliver top-quality service to every customer. I’m proud of our team and happy we can reach and help more customers with their Chimney and Dryer Duct needs.
